Haruki Karate Dojo was founded with a shared vision: to create a martial arts school where students and instructors alike are treated with respect, encouragement, and compassion. After personally experiencing a training environment where students — especially competition team members — were not supported or treated well, we felt called to build something better.
Haruki Karate Dojo is designed to be a space where both traditional martial arts and competitive karate are honored and allowed to thrive side by side. The dojo emphasizes growth not only as athletes, but as people — promoting a culture of mutual respect, discipline, and encouragement. As the founders put it, “a rising tide lifts all ships” — the goal is not just individual improvement, but collective growth for students, families, and the broader community.
Our dojo is a place where students of all ages are challenged to grow not just as athletes, but as individuals — building confidence, resilience, and strong relationships through every class. Whether students train for fun, self-development, or competition, they are welcomed as part of a supportive second family.
Haruki Karate Dojo is owned and operated by a team with deep roots in martial arts education. Our ownership group brings decades of combined experience in karate instruction, competition, coaching, and leadership. Together, we are committed to building a long-lasting, community-centered school where students thrive and instructors lead by example. Each of our instructors have significant experience training and teaching karate bring nearly 50 years of combined karate training and nearly 30 years of teaching experience to the dojo.
While Haruki Karate Dojo operates as a for-profit LLC, we are deeply aligned with and actively support the Haruki Pathways Foundation, our nonprofit partner organization. This collaboration helps ensure that high-level training and competition remain accessible to athletes who need financial support.
Our dojo contributes by:
Providing space and structure for scholarship and competition team training
Offering mentorship and leadership opportunities for students through the Jr. Board
Collaborating on outreach, community events, and fundraising efforts
In turn, the Foundation helps cover competition-related expenses — including travel, lodging, and coaching fees — for the athletes it supports, helping them to grab hold of more opportunities.
